Tornadoes, fires and other natural disasters can shatter your world.  If a disaster strikes your home, you want your claim to be settled as quickly as possible.  Still, the adjuster does not work for you, but for your insurance company.  The initial offer to replace your home may not reflect its true market value.  Having a current appraisal is the best way to make your case.  Appraisals consider the value of a finished basement, upgraded cabinetry, crown molding and other nuances that represent the full value of your home.  By keeping a copy of a current appraisal off-site, you will be able to show the opinion of a license, unbiased third party.
